Merge Text Files takes any number of text files and combines them into one — in exactly the order you want, with exactly the formatting you need. Drag in a handful of files or drop a whole folder. Arrange them by hand or sort them by name or date. Watch the result build live in the preview, then save it or copy it to the clipboard. MERGE FOR AI Switch to AI Prompt format and your files become a clean markdown document: each one with its own heading and code block, and the language picked up from the file extension. A live token estimate tells you whether the result fits in the model's context window before you paste it. Give an AI chat a whole project in one go, instead of one file at a time. BUILT FOR REAL FILE LISTS • Drop a folder and every text file inside is added • Sort by name or date, in proper numeric order — Chapter 2 comes before Chapter 10 • Drag to reorder, or send a file straight to the top or bottom • Uncheck a file to leave it out of the merge without removing it from the list • Preview any file with Quick Look, or reveal it in the Finder CONTROL THE OUTPUT • Separate files with nothing, a line break, a blank line, or your own text • Build headers automatically from the file name, path, number or date • Normalise line endings, strip trailing spaces, guarantee a final new line • Save as UTF-8, UTF-16, ISO-8859-1, Windows-1252 or Windows-1253 READS FILES OTHER TOOLS CAN'T The encoding of every file is detected as it is read, so a folder mixing modern UTF-8 with older Greek or Western European documents merges correctly without changing a single setting. A PREVIEW YOU CAN WORK IN The merged text builds live as you go, with dividers showing where each file starts. Search it with ⌘F and every match is highlighted. Edit it directly if you want to adjust something before saving — your changes are kept, never quietly overwritten. PICKS UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF Your file list and all your settings come back when you reopen the app. Edit one of the source files in another app and the preview updates by itself.
