설명

Hold your phone up to the Sky and Star Gazer tells you what you're looking at. That bright dot next to the Moon? Point at it and you'll have its name. Star Gazer, by LeoStudio Global, is a stargazing app and live sky map for iPhone and iPad that identifies stars, planets and constellations. You don't need a telescope or any background in astronomy to use it. If you do have binoculars or a small scope, there's plenty here to point them at. AR GUIDE Turn on AR and your camera view fills with labels: planets, bright stars and constellation lines, lined up with the real sky. It's an easy way to tell Jupiter from a bright star, or to find Orion's Belt for the first time. CONSTELLATION FINDER Point at any patch of sky and the constellations there are drawn in and named. • Tap one to see its brightest stars and the story behind its name • Switch sky cultures to see how people elsewhere grouped the same stars Give it a few nights and you'll start spotting them without the phone. WHAT'S UP TONIGHT What's on screen is what's over your head right now. • The map follows your location, the time and the direction you're facing • See when the Moon and planets rise and set • Pinch to zoom in on faint stars you'll never see from the city THE BIG NIGHTS The sky calendar tells you when to look up: • Meteor shower peaks, like the Geminids in December • Solar and lunar eclipses, including the total solar eclipse • Full Moons and conjunctions, when planets and the Moon pass close together During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon on the map even turns coppery red. ALSO IN STAR GAZER • Sky Tours: guided tours of the bright planets, the major constellations and Messier objects for binoculars and small scopes • Time Machine: move the sky forward or back to see where Saturn will be at 10pm, or what was overhead the night you were born • AI Astro: ask in your own words, like "Why is Venus so bright?" or "What's the red star in Orion?" • 3D planets and Moon: spin and zoom detailed models of the Earth, Moon, Sun and planets COMMON QUESTIONS What's that bright "star" next to the Moon? Often it's a planet, usually Venus or Jupiter. Hold Star Gazer up to it and the label will tell you. Is that a planet or a star? As a rule, planets shine steadily and stars twinkle, though anything low in the sky can twinkle. Star Gazer settles it in a second. Which planets can I see tonight? Star Gazer shows which planets are above your horizon right now, and when each one rises and sets where you are. When is the next meteor shower? Open the sky calendar. It lists each shower's peak night, so you can plan ahead. Why are the labels in the wrong place? Phone compasses get thrown off by magnets and nearby metal. Take the phone out of any magnetic case and wave it in a figure 8 to recalibrate. TIPS FOR A BETTER NIGHT • Turn your screen brightness down and give your eyes 20 minutes to adjust to the dark. • Check the Moon phase first. A bright Moon hides faint stars and meteors.
