Stay in. Let it rain. Or snow. Weatherling brings rain, snow, and little visitors to your desktop. Drops splash on your open windows, pool along their edges, and run down the sides. Snow gathers on window tops and tumbles down when they close. Little visitors called Lings come and go, and when you feel like a break, you can pick them up, drop them into boxes, and build your collection. A LITTLE WEATHER, A LITTLE PLAY Multiple Lings are waiting to be discovered, each with their own personality. Turn on Interactive mode in the Lings settings to click and hold a Ling. Drop your Ling into a box to collect points, or let go elsewhere and see how they make their escape. COLLECT, DISCOVER, SHARE Every successful drop adds to your score. Discover new combinations as you build your collection, with optional floating points when you collect a Ling. See your total points and collection of Ling-and-box combinations in Settings. Share My Score makes a card right on your desktop: copy it, save it as an image, drag it into a message, or use the share menu. Social shortcuts open a post for you to finish, with the card ready to paste or attach. STILL YOUR QUIET CORNER - Rain and snow fall in front of and behind your windows - Choose rain, snow, or a mix; let Random change the mix for you - Snow gathers on window tops, falls when released, and melts away - Splashes, pooling, rivulets, and waterfalls in heavier rain - Adjustable intensity, from a passing drizzle to a downpour - Optional rain audio and Ling sounds, with separate volume controls - Watch the Lings, join in, or turn them off for weather alone - Interaction and Ling sounds are off until you turn them on - Per-display controls, per-app pause rules, and energy-saving quality options - One click in the menu bar to start or stop ACCESSIBILITY Turn on descriptive box labels in Settings > Accessibility to identify boxes without relying on color. To pause effects whenever Reduce Motion is enabled on your machine, turn off “Show effects even when Reduce Motion is on” in Settings > Accessibility. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Weatherling runs in the App Sandbox without Screen Recording or Accessibility permission. It reads window positions, never titles or contents. The rain stays click-through; only Lings respond to your mouse when interaction is enabled. No account, no in-app analytics, and no score server. Your collection and score stay on your machine unless you choose to share a score card or text through another app or website. One purchase. No subscription or in-app purchases. A little snow. A little more company. Weatherling 1.3 brings a change in the weather and more Lings to discover. NEW WEATHER - Snow falls among your windows and builds up along exposed window tops. Move a window and its snow comes along; close or cover it and the snow tumbles down, settles, and melts away. - Choose rain, snow, or a mix of both with the Rain and Snow slider. Choose Random to let the mix shift on its own. - Rain audio eases as the weather turns snowy. Intensity, wind, and depth remain yours to adjust. MORE TO DISCOVER - More Lings to meet. FIXES AND REFINEMENTS - Collect another Ling immediately after boxing one, without waiting for the boxes to disappear. - More consistent animation alignment and scale, and improved pickup and window layering. - Better handling of overlapping windows, full-screen apps, and Spotlight. - Fixed overlays interfering with Apple sign-in and authentication prompts. - Refined weather controls and fixed clipping around the menu bar popover. Screenshot options now live in Settings > Advanced. Interaction and Ling sounds are off by default. Watch them visit, join in, or turn Lings off to simply enjoy the weather.
