METAR MenuBar shows the current FAA flight category — VFR, MVFR, IFR, or LIFR — for one or more airports as a color-coded dot in your menu bar. Click the dot for a fully-decoded METAR observation. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising. Only the ICAO airport codes you have added are sent over the network — to the FAA's Aviation Weather Center, the public OurAirports CSV mirror, and Apple's own geocoding service for airport-timezone lookups. This update brings the biggest feature stack since v3.0: • TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) support — full 24/30-hour weather forecasts in the dropdown for airports that publish them, decoded one line per period. • First-launch welcome window with a color-coded VFR / MVFR / IFR / LIFR legend so new users know what the dot means before picking their first airport. • Global keyboard shortcut — set one in Preferences and pop the menu from any app (sandbox-safe, no permissions to grant). • Read Me… menu item with the full disclaimer and privacy policy in-app. • SPECI notifications — Notification Center alert the moment a fresh special METAR lands for any configured airport. • Launch at Login toggle (macOS 13+). • Rounded time-ago labels, sharper marketing screenshots, and fixes for stale-observation timing and picker-row alignment.
