Choros Remote is a tiny menu-bar remote for Raumfeld® multi-room speakers. It lives quietly next to your clock, finds every speaker on your local network automatically, and lets you change what's playing without a full screen of UI. Click the music-note icon. The popover lists every speaker and zone Choros has discovered. Pick one. Press play. Done. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Discover Raumfeld® speakers and zones automatically — no setup, no helper service, no companion app. • Play, pause, skip, and rewind on any speaker or zone, straight from the menu bar. • See what's playing — track title, artist, and album art, refreshed every couple of seconds. • Adjust per-speaker volume with a slider that always reflects the speaker's actual current value, even when changed from another controller. • Group control done right: when you act on a speaker that's currently part of a zone, transport commands are automatically routed to the zone so they actually take effect. • Reload at any time (⌘R) if your network just woke up or a speaker moved. HOW IT WORKS Choros speaks the open UPnP/SSDP protocols that Raumfeld® speakers already implement. It sends a multicast discovery request, listens for the speakers' replies, fetches each device's description, and uses RenderingControl:1 and AVTransport:1 SOAP calls to drive playback and volume. Everything happens directly between your Mac and the speakers on your LAN. PRIVATE AND RESPECTFUL OF YOUR NETWORK • No cloud account. • No telemetry of any kind. • No outbound internet connections of its own. The only non-LAN traffic is loading album-art URLs your speaker is already reporting — those are fetched from whatever CDN provided the cover art for the currently playing track. • App-sandboxed. The app holds only the network entitlements it needs to perform local-network discovery. REQUIREMENTS • macOS 26.4 or later. • At least one Raumfeld® speaker on the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. • "Local Network" access granted on first launch (macOS prompts you). • A network that allows multicast — most home Wi-Fi does. What's new in version 1.1.0 New - Built-in tone control. Tap the EQ button next to the volume slider to open an inline Low / Mid / High equalizer for any speaker or zone, with a one-click Flat reset. - Quick mute. A dedicated mute button preserves the volume level so un-muting brings audio back at exactly the same setting. - Remembers your last selection. The speaker or zone you picked last time is re-selected automatically when you launch Choros. - Cleans up vanished speakers. A speaker that goes offline is removed from the popover within seconds, and re-added automatically when it comes back. Improved - Smoother volume slider. Dragging no longer jumps backwards mid-gesture while the speaker catches up. - Reliable Play, Pause, Volume and Mute. If a command fails (Wi-Fi blip, speaker rebooting), the buttons and slider now snap back to reflect the speaker's real state instead of getting stuck. - Only Raumfeld speakers show up by default. Sonos, smart TVs and other generic UPnP renderers are no longer listed. - Quieter and faster on zone setups. Choros no longer wastes work polling tone controls on devices that do not support them. Plus internal improvements to logging and diagnostics.
