RAMdrive Pro gives you a fast workspace on your Mac — a RAMdrive folder in Finder whose files live in memory while the app is running. Use it for temporary files, build caches, scratch work, or anything where speed matters more than keeping data on a traditional disk. How it works • Menu bar control — Add RAMdrive to Finder, open it, or remove it from the sidebar. No Dock icon unless a window is open. • Finder → Locations — RAMdrive appears like iCloud Drive, not as a separate disk in Disk Utility. • Automatic size — No size to choose. RAMdrive grows as you add files, limited by available RAM. Check usage in the menu bar (N files — X bytes). • Save to disk (optional) — In Settings, turn on Save to disk to keep a copy under the app’s storage so files can be restored after you quit and relaunch. With it off, files exist in RAM only and are removed when you quit. • Open at login (optional) — Start RAMdrive Pro automatically when you log in. Good for • Xcode build folders and DerivedData • Temporary exports, caches, and scratch files • Any task where you want folder access at RAM speed Important Data on RAMdrive is volatile unless Save to disk is on. If you quit with Save to disk off, remove RAMdrive from the sidebar and quit, or restart your Mac, RAM-only files are gone unless you’ve copied them elsewhere. Use RAMdrive for temporary data you understand may disappear. Finder’s “available space” at the bottom of a window usually reflects your Mac’s main disk, not a separate RAMdrive quota — use the menu bar for actual RAMdrive usage. Requirements: macOS 15 or later.
