See inside any Power BI file — natively on your Mac. PBIXRay opens .pbix files directly: no Power BI Desktop, no Windows VM, no uploading your model to anyone's cloud. Drop a file on the app — or just press Space in Finder, Quick Look included — and get the full picture of the semantic model in seconds. Analysis Services backup files (.abf) open the same way. FREE, FOR EVERY FILE YOU OPEN • Model overview — tables, relationships, row counts, storage footprint • Interactive relationship diagram • Report page structure with visual-by-visual wireframes • Data source inventory and connection details • Quick Look previews in Finder — arrow through a folder of models in seconds ONE PURCHASE UNLOCKS THE FULL INSPECTOR — FOREVER • Every DAX measure, calculated column and calculated table, with syntax highlighting • All Power Query (M) source, parameters included • Table data — browse the actual rows stored in the model • Metrics: the per-column memory breakdown (cardinality, dictionary and hierarchy sizes) you'd otherwise open VertiPaq Analyzer for • Export the whole model as JSON, CSV, Markdown or HTML No subscription. The unlock is a single one-time purchase. BUILT FOR POWER BI PROFESSIONALS Consultants auditing inherited models, teams reviewing PBIX files in pull requests, and anyone who ever said "I just need to see what's in this file" on a Mac. Engineered lean: memory-mapped parsing keeps the footprint small enough to keep many large models open side by side. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your models never leave your Mac. PBIXRay ships without the macOS network entitlement, so the sandbox itself prevents any upload — no account, no telemetry, works fully offline. (The optional purchase is handled by the App Store outside the app.) SUPPORTED FILES • Power BI Desktop reports (.pbix) — import, DirectQuery, composite, and thin/Live Connection reports • Analysis Services backups (.abf)
Novità
Versione 1.1 · 02/09/2026Version 1.1 corrects how PBIXRay reads model storage. If you compared its numbers against DAX Studio or VertiPaq Analyzer and they disagreed, they should now agree. • Auto date/time tables are part of the model. Power BI generates a hidden calendar table per date column, and they are routinely the bulk of a file, so leaving them out reported a model size with the expensive part missing. A test model made almost entirely of them reported 40 KB. It is 177 MB. They now appear everywhere, in the app and in Quick Look. • Tables and measures that Power BI generated on the author's behalf are no longer hidden. If your model keeps all measures in a single dedicated measures table, the app listed none of them. • Calculated tables list their own columns, and their rows can be browsed like any other table. • Currency columns stored with a fractional scale factor read 100 times too small. • The Model inspector's storage breakdown labelled two nested totals "Data" and "Dictionary", so one table could report different sizes on different screens. It now shows the same component sizes as the Metrics grids, plus the missing hierarchies row.
