Your whole photo life is scattered: a full iPhone, external drives, a NAS in a drawer, a cloud bill that keeps growing. PhotoCore brings all of it into one private home on your Mac, so you can find any photo, relive it, and share it. It runs entirely on your Mac. No cloud, no subscription. BRING EVERYTHING HOME Plug in your iPhone or an Android phone and PhotoCore copies your photos and videos to a folder or drive you own, outside iCloud. Every file is checked byte for byte after copying, so you can free up phone storage without fear. It never deletes anything on your phone. Index external drives and a NAS once, and keep finding every image even when the disk is unplugged. FIND ANY PHOTO BY DESCRIBING IT Type what you picture, like "warm backlit portrait at golden hour" or "our trip to the dunes", and the right shots show up in under 50ms. Find the exact pose out of a thousand frames. Name a person once and pull up every photo of them, or search "@Anna at the beach". Filter by how many people are in the frame. See your geotagged shots on a map. Sort by quality to bring your best frames to the top and hide screenshots. RELIVE AND REMEMBER Constellation groups a gallery into moments on its own: trips, weddings, shoots. Semantic Bridge takes any two photos and shows you the visual story between them. It is a genuinely fun way to rediscover your own archive. TURN PHOTOS INTO STORIES (NEW IN 1.5) Pick a trip, a person, or a search result. EXPORT ALBUMS AS FOLDERS From your Apple Photos archive, albums become plain folders on a disk you choose: one per album, Photos folders as subfolders, photos in two albums in both. Inside each album, originals and edited versions, your call. Every file is written, read back and checked against the original's fingerprint; on the same APFS disk the copy is instant. Every export creates a new dated folder: nothing is ever overwritten, in Photos, in the archive or in a previous export. Pause and resume if you unplug the disk or quit the app. After updating the archive, you can number the files in album order. At the end, a report you can read in a browser and a manifest with every file and its outcome. WHY THIS BEST SHOT? In groups of similar shots, the star on the recommended photo is now clickable and explains in one or two lines why PhotoCore prefers it: sharper subject detail, less highlight clipping, better captured faces, higher visual score. Measured reasons only. If the top two are too close, it says so and sends you to Compare to decide yourself. Your Picks always win. The 1.9 scores do not change. SAVED SEARCHES Save the criteria and run it again whenever you like: from the bookmark button next to the field or from the new Search menu (cmd-F takes you to the field). Text, filters, sources, Picks and ranking are kept; every time you reopen it, the search runs again on the photos you have at that moment. A chip in the filter row shows its name; change a filter and "Modified" appears: update, save as new or revert. If a folder is on a disconnected disk, you can run it on the available sources. Rename, duplicate, delete; a deleted search comes back with cmd-Z. A FIRST LAUNCH THAT EXPLAINS Three steps: what stays on your Mac, what the local engine does, where your photos are. As soon as a folder is ready, a note under the field invites you to describe a photo you remember, once. Suggestions under the field can be hidden.
