Hanja Time!

Over half of all Korean words are based on Hanja, or Chinese characters. As you study Korean, you'll learn tons of them. For each new Hanja-based Korean word you learn, there's probably another Korean word you already know which has the same Hanja! Making this mental connection to a Korean word with the same root is a very helpful mnemonic. It strengthens your memory of the existing word and makes you more likely to remember the new word. Here's just a few examples: 집중: Focus 애착: Attachment 집착: Obsession 음악: Music 파도: Wave 음파: Sound wave 엄격: Strict 선택: Select 엄선: Curate I made Hanja Time to help me make these connections better, and it's now an essential tool in my language learning repetoire.
