Descrizione
Laminar is the first native macOS planetary and solar imaging capture app built for Apple Silicon. Record high-framerate video of planets, the Moon, and the Sun through your telescope: no Windows, no virtual machines, no compromises. The proven workflow: capture thousands of frames as raw SER video, then stack the sharpest in AutoStakkert, Registax, PIPP, or SIRIL. Laminar handles capture. Recording is isolated from the interface. Under thermal throttling, common in long solar sessions, the preview slows before a recorded frame drops. The SER keeps writing at full sensor speed. SEQUENCES Record clips on a schedule: a clip length, a gap, and a count, a clock time, or a total duration. Start, pause, skip, and stop from the Sequence tab or the Capture menu. A run cut short by a quit resumes where it stopped. Nine worked examples are included, from derotation sets to solar time-lapses. EQUIPMENT PROFILES Your telescope, Barlow, camera, and filters in one profile that sets the image scale, fills the SER header, names the file, and records what you used with every capture. Name captures by their UTC midpoint, as WinJUPOS reads them. CALIBRATION Dark, flat, and hot pixel correction on the live preview and, optionally, recorded files. Build masters with guided wizards or import FITS, TIFF, PNG, and SER; a per-camera library matches the right one. CUSTOM ROI & SOLAR SCANNING Draw a region of interest on the live preview: drag, resize, or type exact pixels. Narrow horizontal strips drive spectroheliograph (SHG / Sol'Ex) scanning at high frame rates. Save regions as presets. CAMERA SUPPORT USB astronomy cameras from 10 brands, via direct SDK integration: ZWO ASI: all Apple Silicon compatible USB models PlayerOne: all models QHY: QHY5III planetary series, QHY268, QHY600, QHY533, QHY294 ToupTek Astro: all models Altair Astro, OGMA, Omegon, MallinCam: each with its own bundled driver RisingCam: through the ToupTek driver SVBONY: SV305, SV505C, SV705C, SV605, SV905C Plus UVC webcams, and iPhone or iPad via Continuity Camera for afocal capture through an eyepiece adapter (Beta). Not compatible: ZWO Air cameras and ASIAir controllers are WiFi-only. The non-Air versions of those sensors (ASI585MC, ASI662MC, ASI678MC) are fully supported. Controls adapt: exposure, gain, white balance, cooler, USB bandwidth, and high-speed mode appear only when supported. FOCUS AND QUALITY Every 4th frame is scored by Laplacian variance, the focus metric stacking software uses, and a live graph shows instantaneous quality, rolling average, and session peak, so you can time captures to steady seeing. Centroid tracking follows a planet as it drifts; GPU template matching locks onto a crater, sunspot, or terminator on the Moon or Sun. TARGET-AWARE CAPTURE Ten imaging targets, each with rotation-safe capture limits: Jupiter gets 60 seconds before rotation smears detail, Saturn 120. A traffic light warns when a capture runs long. SKY CONDITIONS A 0 to 100 Conditions score from cloud cover at three altitudes, humidity, wind, and dew risk, on Apple Weather data, with a six-hour Session Outlook. METAL GPU PREVIEW Bayer demosaicing on Metal compute shaders, 10x to 50x CPU speed. Preview runs at your display's refresh rate. Toggle full-color or raw grayscale for fine focus. SIX LANGUAGES German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch as well as English, AI-translated and reviewed but not yet by a native speaker. If a phrase isn't how you'd say it at the telescope, send a screenshot and your wording to [email protected]. ALSO INCLUDES Live RGB histogram with clipping detection Snapshot export to JPEG, TIFF, or PNG Moon phase, illumination, and rise/set times Sensor temperature with safety shutoff SER playback with transport controls Quick Look preview of SER in Finder Shortcuts actions for capture and sequences Diagnostic logging with one-tap export REQUIREMENTS macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple Silicon Mac (M1+). A supported USB astronomy camera.
Novità
Versione 1.9.0 · 17/09/2026Filter wheels. Plug in a ZWO EFW, a Player One Phoenix or any of the 24 supported wheels, or declare a manual wheel, and Laminar changes filters for you, restores each filter's camera settings and calibration before it records, and puts the filter in the file name. Set up under Connections in Settings; the Equipment tab holds the controls. Focusers. 29 standalone focusers, including ZWO EAF, MoonLite, Pegasus and Optec. Move in and out, go to a position, set travel limits and speed, and give each filter its own focus offset so a filter change refocuses by itself. Backlash compensation for controllers without their own, and one click updates a filter's offset from where you refocused. LRGB sequences. Each sequence step chooses a filter, and with a focuser connected every change applies the filter's offset, so an LRGB set records unattended with the right settings for every channel. Manual wheels get a prompt for each change. New editable Jupiter, Saturn and Mars LRGB examples, and a run can return to its first filter when it finishes. Connect All Devices. One click in the Equipment tab reconnects every saved wheel and focuser, and one disconnects them before you quit. Keyboard. Arrow keys focus in and out, 1 to 9 pick a filter slot, [ and ] step through filters, and ⌘W closes any window. Every shortcut is on a new Keyboard Shortcuts page in Laminar Help, which also gained pages on filter wheels, focusers and credits. Fixed: two cameras of the same brand no longer share one set of remembered settings. Each equipment profile shows its own image scale. SER frame times stay in order when the Mac corrects its clock. The capture window can be reopened after closing it. Include filter works with Laminar's default file names. A figure typed just before Done in the filter table is kept. Icon-only buttons have VoiceOver labels, and the controls above the preview fit the smallest window. • Start Sequence is now ⌥⌘R, alongside Pause ⌥⌘P, Stop ⌥⌘. and Skip ⌥⌘→. • The source code of the open-source libraries Laminar ships is inside the app; see Credits & Third-Party Licenses in Help. • All new text in German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. Wording reports to [email protected].
