PDIFF opens two PDFs side by side and shows you exactly what changed between them. Not just which pages differ, but which characters. It is built for people who cannot afford to miss a change: contract and legal teams reading a counterparty's redline, compliance and audit teams checking a revised policy, technical writers tracking a specification between drafts, and developers diffing generated output. WHAT PDIFF FINDS • Character-level precision. Added text is highlighted in green and modified lines in yellow on the new document, with the exact characters that changed picked out inside the line. Deleted text is marked in red on the original, so removed wording never disappears without a trace. • Document-level alignment. PDIFF aligns the whole document as one sequence instead of page against page, so an inserted page or a paragraph that reflows across a page break shifts the comparison once. It does not mark everything after it as changed. • Comparison filters. Ignore whitespace, ignore letter case, ignore page numbers and running heads and feet, and add your own patterns for anything else you do not want flagged. The window always tells you how many filters are active, and how many lines they hid. • Progress you can watch. Reading and comparing run in the background with live per-page progress, and starting a new comparison cancels the one still running. HOW YOU READ THEM • A differences sidebar listing every change, grouped by page. Click a row to jump straight to it. • Next, previous and first difference commands from the menu, the toolbar or the keyboard. The current change is outlined in both panes at once. • Page-relative scroll and zoom sync, so A4 next to Letter, or a ten-page document next to a three-page one, still line up. Turn it off for independent panes, or realign once with a single command. • Zoom in, zoom out, actual size, fit width, and a Go to Page sheet. WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY • Five export formats from one list: a plain-text report, a Markdown report with a summary table and diff blocks, a JSON report for scripts, and an annotated PDF copy of either document with the highlights baked in. • Copy the whole summary to the clipboard with one shortcut. • Every report is deterministic. The same comparison produces the same bytes every time, under a header naming both files, their dates, and the filters that were active. BUILT LIKE A MAC APP • Five ways in: drag two PDFs onto the panes, use the Open command, drop them on the Dock icon, choose Open With in the Finder, or select two files and pick Compare PDFs with PDIFF from the Finder's Services menu. • Open Recent remembers comparisons, not files, so a whole pair reopens in one click. • A password-protected PDF asks for its password. A file that will not open tells you why. A scan with no text layer says so, instead of quietly reporting zero differences. • Sample documents ship inside the app, so you can see a real comparison before you open anything of your own. • Full keyboard control, VoiceOver labels on every control, and a help window generated from the app itself, so it can never go stale. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION PDIFF has no network entitlement of any kind. It cannot upload your documents and it cannot phone home, because it has no way to reach the network at all. That is enforced by the app sandbox and checked by the app's own tests. There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud. No subscription. No in-app purchase. No telemetry.
