Longwave Player plays the games on your PC, on whatever screen you are nearest. Install Longwave Engine on the PC or Mac your games are on, open this app, and the two find each other on your own network. Your library appears — the games you already own, with their cover art — and any of them starts on the screen in front of you. It is your own network and nothing else. The picture never leaves the house and never touches the internet. Pairing is a code this app shows and you type at the PC, so nothing connects without you, and any device can be removed from the PC at any time. Play it with what you have. A controller paired to an Apple TV or iPad works as a controller. A phone or an iPad on its own draws one on the glass, and you can move every button where your thumbs actually are and keep that arrangement. A Mac uses the keyboard and mouse in front of it. Pick up where you left off. Start something in one room, walk into another, and open Longwave there — the game comes with you, still running, still where it was. Each game's card says what to expect before you start: how well it streams, and how it handles a controller. That comes from the people using it. Play something and Longwave asks once whether it worked, and the answer is the list. The person who owns the PC can switch the question off. Longwave Engine is free. What you need: a PC or Mac with the Engine on it, both machines on the same network, and a wired connection or decent Wi-Fi at the PC end.
