Descripción

Renaming an Xcode project is a job nobody enjoys. Xcode's own rename does part of it and leaves folders, schemes, file paths, entitlements and build settings behind. The shell one-liners going around will happily rewrite half your project and every word that merely looks like its name. Renamer does the whole job - and shows you the complete list before it writes anything. THREE STEPS, AND NOTHING IS WRITTEN UNTIL THE YOU SAY SO 1. Choose. Point Renamer at the folder holding your .xcodeproj or .xcworkspace. It reads the project and works out the current name for you. 2. Preview. Every proposed change, grouped by file, with a tick against each one. This is the whole point of the app. 3. Apply. A zip backup is taken first, every time. Then the ticked changes are written, and a report is saved into your project folder. COLOUR-CODED BY HOW MUCH YOU SHOULD TRUST IT • Safe: a whole-word match, or a file or folder rename. • Review: the name runs into another word here, or the match is in prose. Usually right, worth a glance. • Careful: bundle identifiers and entitlements. Left unticked, because a bundle identifier is permanent once an app has shipped. IT KNOWS WHAT A NAME LOOKS LIKE Renamer finds the spellings that follow from the name you type: the identifier form without spaces, the lowerCamelCase form your properties use, and the lowercased form in bundle identifiers. It will not touch a longer word that merely starts the same way - rename Pulse and PulseOximeter is flagged for review, never silently rewritten. BUILT SO IT CANNOT QUIETLY BREAK YOUR PROJECT • Every run starts with a zip backup of the whole project folder - on every plan, free included. • Your project file is re-parsed after the edit and before it is saved. If the result would not open in Xcode, that file is left exactly as it was. • One-click undo puts every applied change back, exactly. • A Markdown report lists everything that changed, everything you skipped, and anything that failed. It pastes straight into a commit message or a pull request. • Renamer warns you if the project is under version control, if Xcode is running, if there is a Podfile, or if the project has more than one target. FREE AND PRO Scanning and previewing are free and complete, always - seeing exactly what a rename would do is the reason this app exists, and it is not behind a paywall. The free plan also includes one complete rename, so you can prove it works and still finish a real job. Renamer Pro adds: • Unlimited renames • One-click undo • Bundle identifier and entitlement changes Try Pro free for 14 days, then a single one-time purchase - no subscription. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Renamer has no network access at all. There is no account, no cloud, no analytics and no telemetry. Your code never leaves your Mac, because the app has no way to send it anywhere. GOOD TO KNOW • Version 1 targets single-target app projects. Projects with extensions, widgets or several targets are detected and you are warned, but their extra bundle identifiers are not handled specially. • CocoaPods projects are detected and flagged, not yet handled - run pod install afterwards. • Quit Xcode before applying. It keeps your project file in memory and writes its own copy back over any change made underneath it. • Clear DerivedData after a rename. Renamer reminds you. • Renaming the project folder itself is a separate step: macOS grants access to the folder you pick, not to the folder above it, so Renamer asks for that one folder when you are ready.
