Descripción
Watch Tower Pro maps 670,000+ publicly documented surveillance cameras worldwide — government CCTV, police license-plate readers (ALPR), speed and red-light enforcement, traffic monitoring, and dome cameras — and alerts you before you walk or drive into range. Most people pass a dozen cameras a day without noticing. Watch Tower Pro is a privacy-awareness tool: it shows you what's documented so you can make informed decisions about where you go and how you get there. WHAT'S NEW IN 1.4.2 - Refreshed worldwide database: 670,344 cameras, rebuilt across all seven continents and de-duplicated so no two entries share a location. - Wider detection of mapped cameras, especially speed, red-light and plate-reader sites. - Fixes to the camera-reporting screen and the Settings source list. WHAT IT DOES - Works completely offline. The entire worldwide database ships inside the app — no signal needed, no server to query. - Color-codes every camera by type so you can tell an ALPR from a traffic cam at a glance. - Optional proximity alerts: a local notification when you enter the range of an alert-eligible camera. Choose which types alert you and how close. - Travel mode widens coverage automatically when you're driving so alerts fire at highway speed. - Nearby list ranks every documented camera within 8 km by distance, with the operator where known. - Directions to any camera, plus a link to its public source record. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO - No accounts. No login. No analytics. No tracking. No ads. - Your location never leaves your device. Alerts use iOS region monitoring entirely on the phone. - We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Camera reports are ordinary emails you send yourself. - We do not include residential cameras (Ring, Blink, Nest, etc.). Their locations aren't public, and aggregating them would be wrong. LIMITATIONS Public databases lag reality. A missing marker does not mean there's no camera there — treat all public space as observed. Reported cameras are reviewed by a person and added in the next data update, never posted automatically. DATA SOURCES Almost every location comes from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL), including the plate-reader locations, which are ordinary OpenStreetMap nodes. A smaller set comes from camera feeds published openly by government transportation agencies. Each camera's detail screen credits its source and links to the original record. Watch Tower Pro is informational, not legal advice. By using it you agree to use it for lawful, defensive privacy-awareness purposes only. Made by BlackFox Media LLC.

Versión 1.5 · 28/9/2026This release rebuilds the camera database and fixes a number of defects found in a full pre-release audit, including several affecting proximity alerts. CAMERA DATABASE - Refreshed worldwide database — 670,344 documented cameras, rebuilt from a complete OpenStreetMap pass across all seven continents plus published government transportation-agency feeds. Every entry is de-duplicated, so no two cameras share a location. - Wider detection of mapped cameras, so more speed, red-light and automated plate-reader sites appear than before. - An interrupted first load can no longer leave a partial database behind that never repairs itself. PROXIMITY ALERTS - Fixed: alerts now fire when the app is closed. Previously the app had to have been opened since its last launch for a camera alert to be delivered at all — which is the opposite of what the feature is for. - Fixed: turning alerts off now genuinely stops them. Monitored zones used to stay registered with iOS after the switch was turned off, and survived a reboot. - Fixed: changing the alert radius or enabling a new alert category now takes effect straight away instead of waiting for an unrelated event. - Watch Tower Pro now asks for notification permission before arming anything, and tells you — with a link to Settings — when location or notification permission is blocking alerts, instead of leaving a switch that looks on and does nothing. - Tapping an alert now opens that camera even when the app was closed. - In dense areas, several cameras entered at once now produce one grouped alert instead of a dozen, and the same camera will not re-alert for ten minutes. - Location requests that stall no longer freeze alerts, Nearby or the map's centre button until the next launch. NEARBY AND MAP - Fixed a freeze in dense cities caused by the Nearby list reading the whole database on the main thread. - Nearby now updates as you move, and shows the true number of cameras in range rather than a flat "150". - Distances now follow your region's units instead of always using metres. - Map pins no longer blink out and back on every pan. - Fixed a "Search failed" message that appeared after clearing the search box. - Status messages on the map are now legible in dark mode. CAMERA DETAILS - Live traffic-camera images load faster, time out properly instead of hanging, and the refresh button now fetches a genuinely new frame. - Images are no longer cropped to 16:9. - A camera that is no longer in the database now says so instead of spinning forever. - Fixed the "Report a Camera" screen, which did not dismiss correctly after you closed the mail composer. OTHER - Clearer and more accurate source, licensing and non-affiliation information. - Accessibility: VoiceOver labels on the Nearby list and camera details, an operable appearance picker, and better contrast in Read Me. - Removed two background capabilities the app no longer uses.
