Norman is accounting, invoicing and tax filing for freelancers, self-employed professionals and small businesses in Germany — now as a Mac app. Connect your business bank account and Norman sorts your transactions, matches receipts to them automatically, and keeps your books current. When a deadline comes round, it prepares your returns and files them straight to the Finanzamt through ELSTER — no separate tax software, no second portal to log into. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Bookkeeping — connect your bank, auto-categorise transactions, match receipts with OCR • Invoicing — create and send e-invoices, track what's owed, send payment reminders • Taxes — VAT advance returns (UStVA), annual VAT, EÜR, income tax, trade tax and EU sales lists, filed via ELSTER • Documents — a searchable vault for receipts, invoices and contracts • AI assistant — ask about a transaction, a deduction or a deadline in plain language • DATEV export — hand a clean set of books to your tax advisor BUILT FOR THE MAC • Menu bar and keyboard shortcuts — ⌘N for a new invoice, ⌘1–⌘4 to move between sections • Drag receipts straight onto the window to upload them • Exports go through the standard macOS save panel, so DATEV files and PDFs land exactly where you choose • norman:// links open the right screen • A proper resizable window that remembers where you left it • Tells you plainly when you're offline, rather than failing silently Requires a Norman account. Norman for Mac now keeps up with everything new in Norman. • Create quotes, credit notes, delivery notes and cancellation invoices from the File menu • The Go menu takes you to Home, Invoices, Accounting, Taxes, Documents, Automations, Insights and Payments (⌘1–⌘8), with Back and Forward (⌘[ and ⌘]) • Connect DATEV, and pay bills and taxes through your bank, without leaving the app • PDFs open in their own window, where you can save or print them • Right-click to copy, paste, fix spelling or look up a word • Email links open your mail app, and links to other websites open in your browser • Norman asks before you leave a page with unsaved changes • norman:// links now open invoices, taxes, payments, documents and more • Runs natively on Intel Macs as well as Apple Silicon. Requires macOS 13 or later.
