BLOCK EDITOR Open any block for editing — from the Block Manager, the right-click menu, the preview pane or the BEDIT command — and it opens in a space of its own with its own ribbon tab. Save writes the block, not the drawing, and every insert of it updates. DYNAMIC BLOCKS Give a block Variables and Behaviors, and one definition stands in for a whole family of parts: • Variables: linear, polar, XY, rotation, radius (picked from a circle or arc), flip, alignment, visibility states and a catalogue of named sizes. • Behaviors: move, stretch, polar stretch, rotate, scale, flip, array, radius and diameter — each driven by a variable, and by a formula if you give it one. • Rules: "when Type is Double, Width is 1800". Conditions hide or show objects when a value falls in a range. • The Variable Manager lists everything in one place, in collapsible sections. • Chips on the canvas show what each insert is set to, locked ones marked with a padlock. A test room lets you try the block before you save it. • Values are shown and typed in your drawing units, inches included. • Dynamic blocks travel in DWG and DXF, and AutoCAD's own visibility states and flips are read when you open a drawing that has them. DIVIDE AND MEASURE DIVIDE splits a curve into equal pieces, by count or by length, and either cuts it or places points along it. On a closed shape you choose where the division begins. MEASURE ▸ Length takes a selection you have already made. POINTS Choose the point style from pictures of the markers, set their size in Options, and move a point by its grip. TRANSPARENCY AND COLOUR • Layers and objects can be transparent, from 0 to 90%. The Layer Manager has a Transparency column, Properties has a slider, and new objects can be drawn transparent from the start. Plots follow it when Plot transparency is on. • ByLayer and ByBlock work everywhere a colour is chosen, and colour pickers stay open until you click elsewhere. UNDO THAT UNDOES YOUR DRAWING Ctrl+Z now steps back through what you drew, not the colour, layer or linetype you gave it afterwards. Options ▸ System puts property and layer changes back on the undo list if you prefer them there.
