Description

Press Space on any JSON file in Finder and actually read it. Free. JSON Loupe adds a Quick Look preview for JSON and all its variants — including line-delimited .jsonl and .ndjson logs, which macOS otherwise shows as an unreadable wall of text. YAML and TOML open the same way. FREE, WITH NO CATCH The Quick Look preview itself, every supported file type, and both the Pretty and Raw views are free. No account, no trial, no nagging. • Pretty — indented and syntax-highlighted, with short objects kept on one line • Raw — the original bytes, colored in place, with exact file line numbers JSON LOUPE PRO — ONE-TIME $4.99 UNLOCK • Tree — collapse and expand any node; right-click to copy a value, a key, or its full key path • Compact — one colored line per record, ideal for scanning logs • Standalone viewer window — drop a file on the app and read it in its own window Bought JSON Loupe when it was a paid app? Pro is already yours, permanently. BUILT FOR REAL FILES • JSONL and NDJSON: every record is pretty-printed and numbered • Broken files stay readable: bad records are flagged inline with the exact line and column, and everything else still renders • Huge files open instantly — only the head is read, and a banner tells you exactly how much is shown • Embedded base64 images (like Jupyter notebook output) appear as inline thumbnails • URLs inside your JSON are clickable SUPPORTED FILE TYPES .json, .jsonl, .ndjson, .yaml, .yml, .toml, .geojson, .jsonc, .json5, .har, .webmanifest, .ipynb and .map PRIVATE BY DESIGN No network access, no analytics, no data collection. Everything happens on your Mac.

What’s New

Version 1.2.1 · 9/29/2026

YAML and TOML files now open in Quick Look. JSON Loupe 1.2 added YAML and TOML support, but .yaml, .yml and .toml files never actually reached it — macOS kept showing its own plain preview instead. That is fixed: press Space on any of them and they open in Pretty, Tree, Compact and Raw, the same way JSON does. Also fixed: a YAML block with an anchor — like x-logging: &default-logging in a docker-compose file — no longer hides every key that comes after it.
