Description

SSH Config Manager is a fast, native macOS app for everything in your ~/.ssh folder — your config, your keys, your known_hosts, and your tunnels. No Terminal gymnastics, no scattered command-line flags. Just a clean, modern interface built entirely in SwiftUI. Whether you manage two servers or two hundred, it gives you one place to see and control your entire SSH setup. — EDIT YOUR CONFIG, LOSSLESSLY — Open ~/.ssh/config in a visual host editor or a raw text editor with smart completion. Every comment, blank line, and bit of custom formatting is preserved exactly — the parser never rewrites what it doesn't have to. Search hosts instantly with fuzzy matching, organize them with tags and favorites, and jump to any host in a keystroke. — BUILT-IN VERSION HISTORY — Every change is tracked in a git-style history tree. Browse previous versions, compare them, and restore any point in time with one click. Experiment freely — nothing is ever lost. — KEYS, AGENT & KNOWN_HOSTS — Generate new SSH keys (Ed25519, ECDSA, RSA), browse and manage your known_hosts, and work with your running SSH agent — all from a native interface. No more memorizing ssh-keygen flags. — TUNNELS THAT RUN IN-PROCESS — Create and run SSH tunnels directly inside the app — no Terminal window, no background ssh process to babysit: • Local (-L), remote (-R), and dynamic/SOCKS (-D) forwarding • Multiple forwards over a single SSH connection • Multi-hop ProxyJump support • ssh-agent and private-key authentication • known_hosts verification with trust-on-first-use for new servers • Live throughput, a per-tunnel console, and automatic health monitoring with reconnect Start a tunnel and it stays up — the app watches it, retries with backoff if the link drops, and shows you exactly what's happening. — PRIVATE BY DESIGN — SSH Config Manager is fully sandboxed and only accesses ~/.ssh after you explicitly grant permission. Your keys, configs, known_hosts, and tunnel traffic stay on your Mac — they're never uploaded anywhere. No ads, no analytics, no third-party tracking; the only network connection the app makes is to verify your license. — NATIVE & UNIVERSAL — Built with SwiftUI for macOS 14 and later. A true universal app — runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. — FREE & PRO — The core config editor is free to use. A one-time Pro purchase unlocks the power features: in-process tunnels, key generation, SSH agent management, version history, known_hosts editing, smart completion, and deeper system integration. Buy once — 1.x updates are included. No subscription. Download SSH Config Manager and take control of your SSH setup, the native Mac way.

What’s New

Version 1.2.0 · 9/2/2026

• Tunnels now understand three common ProxyCommand patterns — ssh -W jump hosts, a SOCKS5 proxy, and an HTTP CONNECT proxy — and run them in-process, no separate binary needed. • The direct-download build (from sshmanager.app, not the Mac App Store) now runs any other ProxyCommand as a real subprocess, and opens Ghostty, kitty or WezTerm directly for Connect & Launch instead of only copying the command. • GitHub Gist sync (Pro): sign in with GitHub, back up your SSH config to a private gist, and pull it down on another machine. Optional end-to-end encryption, and a conflict prompt (Keep Local / Take Remote) if both sides changed since the last sync. • Version history records each pull from sync as its own entry, so you can go back to the config you had before the pull. • The app sends one anonymous report a day: a random identifier it made on this Mac, which tier you are on, your trial dates, the app and macOS versions, and your language. It never sends your email, your hardware identifier, or anything from your SSH config. Turn it off under Settings, Privacy. • Issues finds a setting that two lines give a different value to. ssh keeps the first value it reads, so the second line never applies. The entry names the value that wins, the value that does not, and the ssh -G command that shows you the result. • Issues finds the same clash between two hosts of the same name in different files. Which one wins depends on where the Include line sits, so the entry names the file that wins. • Every Pro feature is free for 15 days. The trial starts by itself on first launch, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to enter. It runs on this Mac alone. • A reminder to buy Pro appears every 7 days during the trial, and every 15 days after it ends. It stops for good once you buy. • The app asks you once to rate it on the Mac App Store. It waits until you have used it for 7 days, and never asks in the same session as a reminder to buy. • Issues reports an option name ssh does not know as an error. ssh stops with "Bad configuration option" and connects to nothing, so one misspelled name breaks every host in the file, not only the host that holds it. An option listed in IgnoreUnknown is not reported. Have feedback or hit a snag? Reach us at https://www.sshmanager.app/contact — we read every message.
