Description
iSkitch is a modern, native macOS recreation of the classic Skitch — capture any region, window or your full screen, annotate it instantly, and share the result with one click. Built for the macOS you use today: lives quietly in your menu bar, always one keyboard shortcut away, and uses the native share sheet so your screenshots land wherever you need them. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Capture a region (⌥⌘4), a window, or your full screen — opens straight in the editor • Annotate with 14 tools: – Tapered Skitch-style arrows (plus filled, open and concave), optional double-headed – Text with system fonts, sizes, bold and italic – Rectangles, ellipses (outline or filled) and lines – Highlighter (multiply blend, just like a real marker) – Freehand pen – Stamps: check, cross, star and dot – Obscure (pixelate, blur, solid block, stripes) — hide sensitive info reliably – Spotlight — dim everything except the areas you want to focus on – Sticker emojis – Image-over-image overlay – Non-destructive crop with aspect ratio presets and proportional lock • Rotate left/right and flip horizontal/vertical — annotations follow • Full undo/redo on every change • Export to PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF or TIFF • Copy to clipboard, share via the native macOS share sheet, or drag straight into any app • Drop an image onto the Dock icon or "Open with iSkitch" from the Finder DESIGNED LIKE A NATIVE APP • Lives in the menu bar — keep it always available or run on demand, with optional Dock icon • Standard top menu: File · Edit · Capture · Image · Tools · Window • Light, Dark or System appearance • Universal Binary (Apple Silicon + Intel) • Available in 18 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Turkish, Czech, Indonesian and Catalan PRIVACY FIRST • Works offline — no accounts, no tracking, no analytics. What’s New
Version 1.9.1 · 9/28/2026iSkitch 1.9.1 — One shortcut for all three capture modes, and zoom with ⌘ + scroll The rest of what one Austrian user asked for, plus two bugs his screenshots uncovered. New • A mode bar while capturing, like the one from ⇧⌘5. Start a region or window capture and a bar appears at the bottom of the screen with Region · Window · Full Screen and Cancel. Switch before you capture, with the mouse or with the keys 1, 2 and 3 — so a single shortcut (⌥⌘4 or ⌥⌘5) reaches all three modes. The per-mode shortcuts are still there for anyone who has them in their fingers. • Zoom with ⌘ + the mouse wheel, and with the trackpad pinch. Over the canvas, ⌘ + wheel zooms in and out in the same steps as ⌘+ and ⌘−; on the trackpad the zoom is continuous. Without ⌘, the wheel still scrolls the image. Fixed • A capture opened at 51 % even when it fitted at 100 %. The initial zoom was worked out during the editor's first layout pass, while the window was still at its 800x600 minimum, and stayed locked there. It is now decided with the real window size: 100 % when the image fits, scaled down only when it doesn't. The bug dates back to 1.4.0. • The open editor covered what you were about to capture. With a capture already open, starting another one brought the editor to the front, on top of the window you wanted. The capture overlay now becomes the key window before the app activates, and the editor stays where it was. • Without Screen Recording permission, a capture no longer opens the overlay. The system dialog came up underneath the full-screen overlay, which took all the clicks, so the only way out was to cancel. iSkitch now tries a 2x2 px test capture first; if it fails, the system dialog appears on a clear screen and the Welcome and permissions screen explains the restart. Changed • A click without dragging no longer closes the capture. It stays open so you can pick another mode in the bar; Escape or Cancel still exits.
