Description

LinguaTrans is a native macOS CAT tool for professional translators. It opens the bilingual files your agencies send and lets you work through them with full tag fidelity. Save, and everything gets written back byte-for-byte. Nothing changed but the translations you put in. Built in Swift for macOS. No Java runtime, no Windows VM, no Electron shell. It looks and behaves like a Mac app because it is one. SUPPORTED FILES Work directly in SDLXLIFF (Trados Studio), XLIFF 1.2, TXLF (Wordfast Pro), MQXLIFF (memoQ) and MXLIFF (Phrase). Envelope, skeleton and inline tags go back exactly as delivered. Locks you set get written the way the client's tool writes them, and files open on the other end without complaint. THE EDITOR A two-column grid with inline tag chips that survive paste, partial deletion and round-trip. Keyboard-first: confirm and jump to the next unconfirmed segment without touching the mouse. Autosave on confirm and on every switch. Native spell check and grammar in the target, suggesting, never rewriting. Fix Quotes levels a file of mixed straight and curly quotes to one typographic style in a click. TRANSLATION MEMORY One memory per project, kept as a plain file beside your work, or one per client in a library so every job for them builds on the last. Fuzzy and context matches with scores and dates, concordance across the project, click-to-insert. When nothing matches the whole segment, shared fragments of three words or more appear on their own. Import and export standard TMX. Pre-translate fills confident matches as drafts, one file or the whole project. GLOSSARY Import termbases as CSV or tab-delimited text, per project or per client. Terms light up green in the target where used and warn in the source where not. A term can be Required, Informational or Rejected. Turn down a rendering and it gets flagged, with the approved term named alongside it. Matching understands inflected forms too; a plural won't hide a term. QUALITY CHECKS Conservative, non-blocking QA: tags, numbers, punctuation, glossary, whitespace, untranslated and repeated words, formality for Dutch, each a filterable bucket with a live count. Whitespace gets checked beside each tag the way the client's own verifier checks it, numbers and units included. Client rules: the client's do's and don'ts as patterns, saved with the project and inherited by the next job for them. Consistency both ways across every file. The QA Report runs everything across the project at once and exports as clean HTML or PDF, your comments included. REVIEW Flag any segment with a comment, correction or question. Flags never touch the delivery file and export as a report with the original wording, the edit and the note. Review on the iPad with LinguaReview, and the flags sync both ways through your own iCloud. For a reviewer with nothing but Word, export the file as a table and take the reviewed column back as drafts to accept or reject. CLAUDE DESKTOP Switch it on and Claude Desktop can see the open file and project: what is unconfirmed, how a term was translated before. Ask for a sweep and Claude proposes targets as unconfirmed drafts with its reasons, or raises flags without touching the text. It never confirms anything. Local, behind a key, off by default, nothing to install. YOUR FILES STAY YOURS Projects are real Finder folders you own. Originals are never touched, and nothing is locked in a proprietary database. Time Machine, iCloud and Finder work on your jobs directly. Local-first: projects, memories and glossaries never leave your Mac. No account, no telemetry. PART OF THE LINGUAAI SUITE LinguaTrans works on its own, and hands files cleanly to LinguaAI Pro (AI pre-translation and review), LinguaAI Terminology (conversion, packages and termbases) and LinguaReview (iPad review). The file is the entire contract; no shared database. PRICING Buy it once and own it. No subscription. Requires macOS 26 or later.

What’s New

Version 1.15 · 10/5/2026

Duplicates dealt with, a translated file as a memory, and QA fixes in a click. - A bilingual file someone else translated (SDLXLIFF, XLIFF, MQXLIFF, MXLIFF or TXLF) can become a memory, or go into one, straight from the project page. No TMX detour. - Merging a TMX into a memory leaves out what the memory already has and says how many. Nothing is doubled. - View Contents has a Show menu: Newest first, By source, Duplicates, Same source with a different translation, and Superseded (older entries under a source you have since confirmed yourself). Duplicates and superseded entries move out to a TMX you name; nothing is ever deleted, and a moved TMX can be added back at a mark-down. Same source, different translation shows one row per translation with a count of its copies, and names a difference you cannot see, such as a trailing or double space. - View Contents shows tags as chips, says so when an entry's translation carries tags, and its corrections and removals stick: three faults that made edits look saved when they were not are gone, and a write that fails says why. - QA fixes in a click. In the QA view, a segment with a missing glossary term, a missing tag, differing punctuation, a wrong first letter, a stray space or a plain space where the source has a non-breaking one gets a small panel under its target, one line per finding with a button that does it, plus Mark reviewed. Settings, General sets the panel to Automatically, on a click of the segment's !, or Off. - Whitespace QA no longer reads a tag with a space on each side as a double space. - New Project can merge the job's TMX files into the client's memory and its glossary files into the client's glossary at Create, each file keeping its mark-down, with a preview of what the glossary merge adds. - A TMX can carry a mark-down per unit. LinguaAI Toolkit writes one when it merges a translation package's memories, so the client's own mark-downs arrive on every entry; export writes them back. - The project menu in View Contents lists one line per project, newest first, and a job from LinguaAI Admin shows under the client it is linked to. - A file that comes back from LinguaAI Pro as "name_translated" counts as the same file for its memory. - About's copyright line keeps its year current, and View Contents no longer shows "0 entries" under a list while the memory is busy. - Fixed: a segment locked in one session and confirmed in a later one could get a broken status written into the file, which then would not open. A file already hit is mended on open.
