Description
DockStacks gives your Mac a smarter dock. Organize your apps, folders, files and weblinks into stacks, launch what you need instantly, and keep your workspace clean. STACKS Group apps, folders, files and weblinks by project, client, workflow, or anything that makes sense to you. Switch between stacks with a click, swipe, or scroll. Select multiple items at once — drag a selection box or ⌘-click — then move them to another stack in one step, or drag them straight onto a stack tab. Rename, reorder, and color-code each stack to make it yours. CUSTOM WEBLINK ICONS Make every weblink instantly recognizable. Right-click and choose Edit Icon… to give it your own text, any emoji, one of thousands of SF Symbols, or your own image — then pick a color. The emoji and symbol pickers are searchable, so "car", "heart" or "home" finds what you need in seconds. FLOATING PANEL A clean panel that lives above your dock and stays out of your way until you need it. Drag it anywhere on screen — position is saved between sessions. MENU BAR Prefer a lighter footprint? Switch to Menu Bar Mode and DockStacks lives in the menu bar instead of the Dock — one click opens your stacks, right-click for Settings, Help, or Quit. ALWAYS ON TOP Pin DockStacks to keep it visible over every app. Perfect for power users who want their launcher always within reach. AUTO-HIDE Prefer a cleaner desktop? Set DockStacks to hide whenever another app is focused, or automatically when you launch an app from a stack. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS Set a global shortcut to show or hide DockStacks from any app — no mouse required. Jump straight to any stack with ⌘1–⌘9, add items with ⌘O, create a stack with ⌘N, and sort A–Z with ⌘⇧S. APPEARANCE Dial in the look with transparency and background color controls, choose your Dock icon style, and hide item labels for a more compact, icon-only view. Subtle or bold, it fits your setup. SECURITY Password-protect individual stacks to keep sensitive apps, folders, files and weblinks out of sight. Auto-lock when your screen locks or after a period of inactivity. BACKUP & RESTORE Export your stacks to a file and restore them anytime. Move to a new Mac in seconds. Auto-save keeps your backup current automatically.
What’s New
Version 1.6 · 10/2/2026As always, we recommend backing up your stacks (Settings → Backup & Restore) before updating. This update brings new features and improvements, including: • Give any weblink its own icon — right-click → Edit Icon… to set your own text, emoji, SF Symbol, image or color. Emoji and symbols are searchable by name, with favorites shown first • Keyboard shortcuts for switching stacks (⌘1–⌘9), adding items (⌘O), adding stacks (⌘N) and sorting (⌘⇧S) — see the Shortcuts topic in Help • Choose your Dock icon style in Settings → Appearance — Default, Extended, Dark or Light • Rate DockStacks… in the app menu, the Dock and menu bar menus, and on the About screen • Pop-out menus now have a solid background that matches the panel • Menu Bar Mode: if the menu bar icon is hidden, open DockStacks again from Finder, Launchpad or Spotlight to show the panel • Reset confirmation now looks and behaves the same everywhere • General improvements
