Description

iDynamicWallpaper is your private wallpaper workshop for macOS Tahoe — a rich local app that makes the most of your own photos and videos. The core is your own library: import, sort, tag, filter, apply. The anonymous community portal is a bonus on top, there if you feel like sharing or finding inspiration. The 100+ default wallpapers shipped with the app are a starter set to play with, not the main offering. YOUR LIBRARY • Bring in your own photos and videos — drag-and-drop, file picker, or straight from Photos.app via PhotosPicker. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, MOV, MP4 • Videos get converted to Apple Dynamic HEIC locally — no uploads, no cloud services • Auto-tagging on import: Apple Vision suggests scene labels ("mountain", "sunset", "portrait") and a tiny color sampler adds mood tags ("warm", "cool", "dark"). 100% on-device. • Free-form tags — add, remove, search any time • Make your own folders ("Collections") — group by mood, setup, project, aesthetic • Smart Albums: rule-based auto-filters — six built-in (4K, Last 7 Days, Favorites, Videos, …) plus your own rules • Bulk-select with Cmd-click / Shift-click — bulk delete, bulk tag, bulk move to collections • Independent filters per source — Local, Community, Favorites, each Collection keep their own filter state APPLYING TO YOUR MONITORS • Multi-monitor with per-display scaling (Fill, Fit, Stretch, Center) — apply to one or all • Spaces support: the wallpaper follows you across all desktops or stays on the current Space only — fixes the mismatched wallpaper you get after unplugging a monitor • Drag-and-drop wallpapers directly onto the target display in the sidebar — instant per-screen apply • Live display mockup in the Inspector: stylised Mac-shape at the exact aspect ratio of the chosen monitor, shows letterboxing/cropping before you commit • Smart Crop with Apple Vision: when the wallpaper aspect doesn't match the display, Vision finds the visual centre and proposes a smart crop — side-by-side with the standard centre crop. You choose. • Cmd+Z restores the previous wallpaper on every display in one keystroke, with per-display history • Three view modes — Grid, List, Gallery — pick what fits your workflow SCHEDULES & AUTOMATION • Apple Dynamic HEIC for time-of-day animation — the system renders it, your CPU stays idle • Slideshow through your library from 1-minute intervals, pauses on battery if you want • Time-of-day Collection schedules: attach a weekday + time-of-day rule to any Collection — Monday-morning calm tones, Friday-night neon, no manual switching • Quick Look (Cmd+Y) for system preview with zoom and arrow-key navigation OPTIONAL: ANONYMOUS COMMUNITY PORTAL • Browse without an account • Upload with iCloud sign-in — your Apple ID stays invisible, only an opaque token shows • Right-click a community wallpaper → bring it into your local library • Uploads get checked on-device before they leave your Mac (built-in on-device content screening, plus Apple's sensitive-content analysis where enabled) — only content that passes the check gets uploaded • Report mechanism for inappropriate uploads PRIVACY-FIRST • No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party SDKs • Your local library stays on your Mac — no cloud sync, no backup without your say-so • EXIF, GPS, XMP, and IPTC are stripped locally before every community upload — camera serial and capture location never leave your Mac • On-device content screening, only at upload time; videos sample 5 frames across the timeline • Video→HEIC conversion runs entirely locally • Community refresh only when the window is in focus, no background polling • Optional menu-bar-only mode: hide the Dock icon with one toggle • Dark Mode (System / Light / Dark) and 3 languages (English, Deutsch, Español) TECHNICAL • Full App Store Sandbox + Hardened Runtime • Swift 6 strict concurrency, macOS 26 Tahoe Liquid Glass UI • Universal Binary (Apple Silicon + Intel) No subscription, no hidden costs, no in-app purchases.

What’s New

Version 1.2.2 · 9/24/2026

A big update: new features for the keyboard, Shortcuts, Focus and Spotlight, moving backgrounds per monitor, and many fixes. NEW • Moving backgrounds per monitor: every screen can show its own video. The new "Restore Default Wallpapers" button brings back the bundled video loops, and imported videos now keep their original by default so they move. • Keyboard: arrow keys move the selection in the grid, Shift+arrow extends it, Return applies, the Space bar opens Quick Look. • Withdraw your own uploads, and "My uploads" now shows all your Community posts. • New Shortcuts actions: "Next Wallpaper", "Turn Slideshow On or Off" and "Wallpaper from Collection". • Focus filter: a wallpaper and a slideshow collection of their own for each Focus mode. • Spotlight: your wallpapers can be found in Spotlight by title and tags. • Finder: dragging a tile into the Finder places a copy there, and "Set as Wallpaper" in the Services menu takes images straight from the Finder. FIXES • Smart Albums: the rules "is none of", "not in the last N days", "Times used" and "Recently used" now work. • Usage: wallpapers you apply by hand now count towards "Most used" and "Recently applied". • Library folder: when you switch, Collections, Smart Albums and history now reliably move with it. If the folder is on a disconnected drive, the app shows a notice and reloads as soon as you connect it. • A new title is kept when you simply leave the field. • The video loop no longer covers desktop widgets or wallpapers set via Shortcuts. • "Change now" works while the slideshow is paused on battery. • Improved compatibility with macOS 27, updated help and complete English and Spanish texts.
