Description

Phosphor turns whatever is playing on your Mac into visuals that move with it. Play something in Apple Music, Spotify, a browser, a DJ app or your DAW. Phosphor listens to the system audio and drives a library of hand-tuned scenes from it. Every scene reads the transients in the music, so it moves when the kick does. THE SCENES Spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and vectorscopes that behave like real instruments. Fractals, tunnels, particle fields, terrain and fluids. A whole family of retro panels for anyone who remembers a hi-fi with a display worth watching. Browse by category, search by name, and star the ones you keep going back to. REAL AUDIO ANALYSIS FFT with separate bass, mid and treble energy, onset detection, a beat tracker with tempo and phase, spectral centroid and stereo width. Scenes read the waveform itself, so an oscilloscope draws your music instead of a stand-in for it. MAKE IT YOURS CRT, bloom, vignette, grain and chromatic aberration. Hue, saturation and brightness. Kaleidoscope, exposure, pixelation and blur. Layer a second scene over the first with blend modes, adjust the crossfade between scenes, and save the whole look as a preset. RECORD WHAT YOU'RE WATCHING Capture the visuals with the system audio already mixed in. H.264 to an MP4 for posting, or ProRes 422 LT to a MOV for cutting. Record at 1080p, 1440p or 4K however small the window is. The scene re-renders offscreen at full resolution, so you get real detail instead of an upscale. Switch on LOOP TO BAR and the take starts on a downbeat and ends on a bar line, so the clip loops back to itself cleanly. FITS YOUR DESKTOP Run it as a floating window that stays on top, go fullscreen, or set it behind your icons as a live wallpaper. A mini equaliser in the menu bar shows it is listening at a glance. NO ACCOUNT, NO NETWORK Phosphor has no network access. The sandbox does not grant it, and you can check the entitlements yourself. There is no sign-in, and nothing about what you play leaves your Mac. Apple silicon, macOS 14.4 or later. System-audio capture uses Core Audio's process tap, which sets the 14.4 floor.

What’s New

Version 1.0.6 · 9/18/2026

Three new scenes LASER SHOW: a downstage rig of laser heads fanning into haze, one hue at a time, snapping between looks and changing colour on the beat. NEBULA CORE: a solid glowing core inside a swirl of drifting dust that bursts apart on every hit and settles back. RADIOACTIVE: a uranium source in a cloud chamber. Alpha, beta and gamma events fire off it, Geiger crackle on the hats, a Cherenkov blue shift on hard hits. macOS 27 The floating window drags from anywhere on the chassis again. The menu bar item works with the new menu bar: click to open, click or Escape to close, keyboard navigation included. Fixes The floating window could come back the size of the screen after a session in fullscreen. It keeps its own frame now. The scene drawer's last row no longer leaves a bright grey rectangle where it runs short of a full row.
