Caption Tool is a professional macOS app for subtitle conversion, editing, translation, and Final Cut Pro workflows. Built for editors, creators, broadcasters, and localization professionals, Caption Tool lets you manage subtitles, translate content with Apple Translation or AI providers, process multiple sequences, and turn captions into Final Cut Pro titles. ## Key Features **Subtitle Workflows** Import, edit, convert, and export SRT, WebVTT, iTT, CSV, TXT, FCPXML, and FCPXMLD workflows while preserving timing and structure. **Translation** Translate subtitles using Apple Translation, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, DeepL, LibreTranslate, or compatible custom providers. Context-aware translation helps maintain consistency across neighboring captions. **Multi-Sequence Batch Export** Process multiple Final Cut Pro sequences using shared translation and export settings. Select sequences, caption roles, and title roles for efficient localization and delivery workflows. **Smart Text Handling** Automatically wrap text using configurable line-length and line-count settings. CJK-aware handling improves wrapping for Chinese and Japanese subtitles, while global length warnings help identify captions that need attention. **Final Cut Pro Integration** Turn captions into Final Cut Pro titles using Basic Title, FCP Subtitle, or compatible custom and third-party title templates. FCP Subtitle supports the native subtitle template available in Final Cut Pro 12.3. **Custom Title Templates** Use compatible Final Cut Pro and third-party Motion templates while preserving their styling and animation. Caption Tool detects editable text fields and lets you choose which field receives the caption content. **CSV Collaboration** Export subtitles for review in Apple Numbers, Microsoft Excel, and other spreadsheet applications, then reimport edited CSV data into your workflow. ## Privacy & Security Caption Tool operates within the macOS Sandbox. Files are processed locally except when you explicitly use an external translation provider. Only text required for translation is sent to the selected provider.
