FrostGuard

Description

Designed by a UK firefighter, this app is useful for those who need a quick and safe start to the day, or for those who simply know when the frost is coming! What it does: Shows a simple frost-risk rating based on your location, prompting you to either cover your windscreen or not. For gardeners, cover your plants! Notifications daily with a heads up on forecast. Widgets - add frostguard to your home or lock screen for quick access! Uses temperature, humidity/dew point, wind & cloud cover to predict glass frost formation. Daily notifications to give you a heads-up to cover and protect your windscreen if need be. Updates quickly when you open the app or pull to refresh. Private by design: no account, no ads, no nonsense. How it works: On clear, still nights, glass can cool below the air temperature. FrostGuard estimates cooling and flags when ice is likely—so you know when to cover up the night before. Who it helps: Anyone with a car, motorbike or garden! Emergency responders & shift workers: retained firefighters, ambulance staff, police, carers Rural & on-call professionals: farmers, vets, midwives, trades on early call-outs Transport & fleets: HGV/LGV, delivery drivers, taxi/ride-hail, depots, ground crews Everyday drivers: commuters and school-run parents, gardeners, landscapers Hobbyists: Stargazers and Anglers and cold dippers!

- Under-the-hood rebuild: cleaner, simpler code across the app, widget and notifications, so it's more reliable and easier to keep improving. - More accurate daily frost alerts. Each alert now uses the forecast for its own night and says when the forecast was taken. - Faster and lighter on battery and data, because it refreshes less often and finds your location more efficiently. - Tidier notification time picker and a clearer coloured frost-risk dot on the widget. - Correct compass directions in location names. - The version number in the app now shows correctly.
