Lingard: Read & Learn English

Description

Learn English by reading what you actually enjoy. Lingard turns books, daily news and audio into English practice: tap any word to see its translation in context, listen along sentence by sentence, and keep new words with spaced repetition until they stick. Learning German, Spanish or French instead? Everything works the same way in all four languages. ## Graded books in English, German, Spanish and French Books are adapted to your level (graded readers), so you can enjoy a real story even as a beginner. More than 1,000 books, dialogues, non-fiction summaries, podcasts and retold plots of popular films and TV series, sorted into six levels from beginner to proficiency (A1–C2). Not sure where to start? Take the CEFR level test in your profile and Lingard will suggest texts that match your level. ## Daily news in English, German, Spanish or French Short news stories on a range of topics, updated every day. A few minutes of reading in your new language a day, with a fresh topic each time. ## Tap a word, get the meaning See the translation in context, example sentences, synonyms, antonyms, phrasal verbs and word families, plus an AI-powered dictionary, without leaving the page. Translations are shown in your native language. ## Listen and read along Every sentence has audio. Follow the text as it plays, change the speed, loop a sentence and repeat it out loud to train your listening and pronunciation. Audiobooks are synced with the text. ## Remember vocabulary for good Save English words from any book or article with one tap. Lingard's spaced repetition system (SRS) turns them into flashcards and brings each one back right before you would forget it. Before every session, choose whether to learn new words or review, and see how much is left for today. ## 200+ ready-made vocabulary lists Topic-based word lists in English, German, Spanish and French for when you want to start right away. ## Check what you understood Answer questions about what you read, with every mistake explained. Grammar rules and interactive quizzes help it stick. ## Speak with confidence Say words and phrases out loud: Lingard listens and checks your pronunciation. Spelling practice helps you write them correctly too. ## Read your own books Import ePub, PDF, DOCX and other files in English, German, Spanish or French and read them in the original with the same tap-to-translate dictionary, word saving and practice. ## Learn with friends Keep a shared streak with a friend and climb the weekly leaderboard together. ## Sync across devices Sign in to keep your books, vocabulary, progress and subscription in sync across your devices and platforms. Lingard is for beginners who want simple English texts with translation, for intermediate learners who need lots of real reading to move forward, and for anyone who would rather read a good story than drill isolated phrases. Lingard teaches four languages: English, German, Spanish and French. Open your first book today.
