When you export your library with Google Takeout, the date each photo was taken and the place it was taken are not in the photos. Google puts them in thousands of separate .json files instead, so Photos, Finder and every other app sort your whole life by the day you downloaded it. Takeout Fixer reads those .json files and writes the dates and places back into your photos and videos. • Choose your Takeout folder and a folder for the fixed copies. That's it. • The date taken and the location go back into JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF photos — without re-compressing a single pixel. • MP4 and MOV videos get their recording date back. • Every file's Finder date is set to when it was taken, so your folders sort the way you remember them. • Captions, favourites and the names of people Google recognised come across too. • Photos Google stored twice (once per album) are copied once. • Your export is never changed: everything is written as new copies, in the folder you choose. • Nothing leaves your Mac. The app has no network access at all. Tens of thousands of files take minutes, not hours. At the end you get a list of the few files the export itself had no date for. From the makers of FolioSort.
