Toplings are tiny pixel-art creatures that live on your Mac desktop, and they know it's a desktop. They walk along the top edges of your real windows, tumble off when you move a window, grab the edge to hang on, and climb back up. They graze, yawn, nap (with little "zzz" bubbles), roll, and doze on the Dock. Pick one up with your mouse and toss it: it swings from your cursor and lands on its feet. Adopt from a menagerie of 170+ species (cats, sheep, foxes, owls, dinosaurs, mythical creatures and more), each with its own size, pace, and personality. They form a living little ecosystem on your screen: they lick and groom each other, play chase, nap in a pile, and the braver ones stalk the timid ones (cartoon-only, and fully optional). Open the toy box and mess with them: bounce a ball they chase in teams, wave a laser pointer, blow soap bubbles that carry them off, set out a trampoline they bounce on to reach higher windows, or pour a bowl of kibble. Whistle and the whole flock comes running. Accessories for your Toplings Beanies, caps, bows and more, each in twelve colours. Pick a colour, pay in gold, and it's yours. Drag an accessory onto your Topling, adjust it pose by pose, and pass it on to another Topling whenever you want. Your toplings have a world of their own Pick from ten biomes, paint the land, and place buildings and decorations with your gold coins. Move, flip, and resize anything however you like. Create multiple free maps and expand each one plot by plot. Your herd stays the same, and your creations save on this device and with your account. Create your own Topling Your pet, yourself, or a character of your own: send photos and get a pixel twin, alive on your desktop. AI draws your companion and its animations. Its egg stays with you during creation. Your topling hatches when its animations are ready. Its spot is included. Breeding lab Two parents, an unexpected meeting. Discover the companion who inherits their traits. A birth includes your new topling and its spot, even if your flock is full. Generation takes about 5 minutes, depending on the queue. Appearance stays a surprise until hatching. Focus — The creatures come nag you when you drift to distracting apps or sites. Assistant — Gentle reminders for your upcoming calendar events. Friends — Write letters to your friends: their creatures come and deliver them on your screen. Toplings lives quietly in your menu bar and stays out of the way. Animation and window detection happen locally without reading window titles or contents. When you use Accounts, Friends, letters or images, or purchases, the necessary data is securely exchanged with Toplings servers and payment or service providers. If AI moderation is enabled, letter content may be sent privately to a third-party moderation service, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Choose alternate looks for your creatures. Photo creations and breedings are separate optional in-app purchases, each including one generation and a flock slot. They use third-party generative AI services, with your consent, and are not available in every region.

Clearer purchases When the App Store can’t open a payment, Toplings now says so plainly instead of claiming the server can’t be reached. Closing the Apple Account prompt during Restore Purchases no longer leaves it waiting. Also: the Pasture no longer stops syncing partway through a session, so the gold your herd earns is no longer held back until you relaunch the app; a Topling’s profile keeps its scroll position while it updates; and linking an account no longer makes your pasture disappear on some Macs.
