Squelch is a tiny menu-bar utility that mutes your Mac's microphone instantly. Designed for people who live in video calls. Three ways to mute: • Global hotkey — configurable, with sound cues so you know it worked • Menu-bar click — the icon shows mute state at a glance • AirPods Pro and AirPods Max stem-press — works during any call, in any app, without needing the call's app to support it The difference: Squelch mutes at the system level, the same way the macOS volume keys work, without ever opening a microphone capture session. Most mute utilities have to listen to your mic to do their job — which forces AirPods into the lower-quality voice-call audio mode whenever the app is running. Squelch doesn't. Your AirPods stay in full music quality whenever you're not actively on a call. Add Squelch to your login items and forget it's there until you need it.
