There are 166 different game modes of varying difficulty so it is useful throughout the primary school age range. Answer as many questions as possible in minute-long games, or you can now practice without the pressure of a countdown timer. Questions are randomly generated which means it is very replayable. The game has been carefully designed for children, with large, widely spaced buttons. We recommend that young children play on a tablet. Six main topics are covered: * Times tables - up to 10 or 12 * Division - up to 10 or 12 * Square numbers * Number bonds * Doubling * Halving Between these topics, the four standard arithmetic operations are covered: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You can create up to 30 player profiles per device to track an individual's scores. If you prefer there's also the option to play as a guest. All data is stored locally on your device so you don't have to worry about privacy issues. We've also made it very easy for children to quickly switch between profiles after playing a game, if they're sharing a device. Super Transcoder is a simple video transcoding tool that is surprisingly fast. It supports the transcoding of MP4 and MOV files encoded using Apple ProRes 422, 444 and H.264 codecs. We built this utility to quickly re-encode movie files with specific settings that enhance their use in performance analysis software workflows. Often, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC movie files that are recorded in the latest video cameras have wide keyframe intervals. While this is helpful in reducing file size and keeping quality high, it can hinder the seek-ability characteristics of the movie file, particularly smooth rewinding. Search Beyond The Spotlight Unhappy with Spotlight because it does not find files that you know to be there? Use FAF to find every file on your disks, including those usually hidden. By file name, date, size, and even plain text content (including RTF, Word and Excel files, but not PDF files – see note below). • Recover a file whose name you partially remember? • See what files got changed in the past 5 minutes? • Find all the largest files on your disk? • Uninstall software that leaves files in hidden places where Spotlight doesn't look? • Search with regular expressions? Find Any File (FAF) is the perfect tool for these tasks. You can even search on disks that are not indexed by Spotlight, including network server (NAS) volumes. Find Any File can find files that Spotlight doesn't, e.g. those inside bundles and packages, and inside system folders that are usually excluded from Spotlight search. Contrary to Spotlight, it does not use a database but instead searches the data on disk directly. This lets you search for file properties such as name, creation and modification dates, file size, even plain text inside files, but also makes it slightly slower. However, since FAF now includes Spotlight results where possible, you'll still get such results as quickly as with Spotlight search in Finder. Another useful feature is its hierarchical results view (see screenshots). It lets you view the found items within their respective folders, making it often much easier to browse through 100s of found items. •• Note about text search inside files ••   FAF can search file content only in plain (unformatted and RTF) and in zip-compressed text files (as used by Word and Excel for instance), and with less freedom than what Spotlight search offers in this regard. For instance, limit your search to single words, and use several "Text content" rules if you look for multiple words in a file. Also, while it's not as fast as Spotlight, it's still much faster than using Unix tools such as grep, because FAF uses all available CPUs for the search concurrently. Nōtan is a Japanese design concept involving the play and placement of light and dark elements next to the other in the composition of art and imagery. The Yin Yang symbol is an example of this design philosophy. The use of Nōtan in art composition is a powerful tool to help the artist identify the structure of the light and dark portions of the image they want to incorporate into their project. The first function simply divides the image into black and white with colors above the set value being white and those below being black. You can then use the slider to move that line to enhance detail that may otherwise be obscured. The second and third functions displays the image in either a grayscale or color so the artist can focus on the structure and design of the image. The next 3 functions are Levels. They set either 3, 4, or up to 10 levels of color spread over black, gray and white pallets. The 3 and 4 levels have sliders to adjust where those levels are while the Levels function just evenly divides the image by the number of levels. Finally the last function is Slice. It allows you to select a small range of values and highlight those in black and everything else white. And as of version 3.1 you can now invert the display of each of the filters. Lighter values have been displayed in white, but now you can invert them to see those in black which can really help bring out detail. And of course, share your image in many ways. DICOM QuickLook by OsiriX is a simple application that can display any DICOM files. Did you pass a CT (scanner) exam or a MRI (magnetic resonance) exam recently? All these equipments produce images in DICOM format. A DICOM file is similar to a JPEG file, but with specifications for medical imaging. That means that a file of a chest x-ray image, for example, actually contains the patient name and patient ID within the file, so that the image can never be separated from this information by mistake. This is similar to the way that image formats such as JPEG can also have embedded tags to identify and otherwise describe the image. You can ask your doctor or the imaging center to provide you a CD/DVD or a USB stick with the images, in DICOM format. This small application with the QuickLook plugin is the ideal companion for your DICOM viewer application. Content has been assembled from the Education Scotland Website and once installed requires no access to the internet to be used, making it a simple, lightweight app for your phone and accessible from the broom cupboard if needed! As a Teacher, I found it difficult to access the information readily in a meeting or general discussion while in school or away at a training day. Either I had to lug about the Experiences and Outcomes folder all the time or be left without it at critical moments in meetings and discussions. Equally, while planning and trying to match up cross-curricular themes, the folder made the task more difficult due to its size. When a meeting was scheduled, Experiences and Outcomes were printed so everyone had a copy for the discussion. I set about creating something we could all access and use, while at the same time reducing unnecessary printing and additional costs to department budgets. The Curriculum for Excellence app will sit quietly on your phone and should you require to access an E and O at a point in a meeting or check its relation during an in-service day or educational talk, then this should make it easier to stay focused on what is being discussed and not be thinking about where your folder is or what page you need to turn to.
