Search Beyond The Spotlight Unhappy with Spotlight because it does not find files that you know to be there? Use FAF to find every file on your disks, including those usually hidden. By file name, date, size, and even plain text content (including RTF, Word and Excel files, but not PDF files – see note below). • Recover a file whose name you partially remember? • See what files got changed in the past 5 minutes? • Find all the largest files on your disk? • Uninstall software that leaves files in hidden places where Spotlight doesn't look? • Search with regular expressions? Find Any File (FAF) is the perfect tool for these tasks. You can even search on disks that are not indexed by Spotlight, including network server (NAS) volumes. Find Any File can find files that Spotlight doesn't, e.g. those inside bundles and packages, and inside system folders that are usually excluded from Spotlight search. Contrary to Spotlight, it does not use a database but instead searches the data on disk directly. This lets you search for file properties such as name, creation and modification dates, file size, even plain text inside files, but also makes it slightly slower. However, since FAF now includes Spotlight results where possible, you'll still get such results as quickly as with Spotlight search in Finder. Another useful feature is its hierarchical results view (see screenshots). It lets you view the found items within their respective folders, making it often much easier to browse through 100s of found items. •• Note about text search inside files ••   FAF can search file content only in plain (unformatted and RTF) and in zip-compressed text files (as used by Word and Excel for instance), and with less freedom than what Spotlight search offers in this regard. For instance, limit your search to single words, and use several "Text content" rules if you look for multiple words in a file. Cut and paste files and folders in Finder using Command+X and Command+V. Without this app, you have to first copy (Command+C) and then remember to move (Option+Command+V). You simply set up the app once and it runs in the background. The moving of files and folders are handled by Finder. The app just intercepts cut and paste commands when Finder is in the front and then simulates copy and move commands. If you don't paste after cutting, nothing happens and the files stay in place. It also works with the ForkLift app. Limitation: You cannot cut the name of a file when editing a filename in Finder or cut when using the search field. Application to mirror the screen of your Mac to any Samsung Smart TV. No wires and no additional hardware needed! You can also stream individual video files from your Mac to your TV. Also, we included the option to watch one window on your Mac, and another window on your TV! This works on any Samsung Smart TV from the 2012 models onward. Which model year do you have? You can see that by looking at the middle letter in your model type (on the back of your Samsung TV). After launching the app, you will see the app icon appearing in the top bar of your Mac and the app will look for your TV on the network. It will show your TV when it has found it. Now, you have two options: Mirror your Mac Screen: Use this option to put the screen of your Mac on TV. In source, you can select which screen (or attached monitor) you want to display on TV. If you are running multiple applications on your Mac, you can also select which application window you want to see on TV. Enable Sound: check this to hear the sound of your Mac coming from the TV.
