This is the only app for hikers either walking or thinking of walking the iconic Thorsborne Trail on World Heritage listed Hinchinbrook Island in Far North Queensland, Australia. The Island has very limited cellular access so the app aims to provide the hiker all of its comprehensive information without the need for a mobile connection. The app provides the hiker with both an on and off-line accessible topological Island map. These include the actual trail itself and useful metrics such as the distance walked so far, distance to the nearest water source and camp site. Bread Crumbs Trail is a location pinging app. All location data is stored within the app and stored on your local device. App is designed for educational research, fun, recreation, poly-line mapping or just immediately sharing your location via Email, SMS. If you choose to create and share your bread crumb trails map your location data will be anonymously saved to a database. A uniquely generated URL is how your Bread Crumbs Trails map will be accessed. If you loose this URL you will not be able to retrieve it. Warning, continued use of location services can greatly reduce your devices battery life. App DOES NOT run in the background, if you close the app your location crumbs will no longer be collected.

This is the makeover of the original iGeocacher app I wrote back in 2008. I believe it was one of the first if not the first apps for the serious geocacher. I've wanted to do this since the original 32bit app was no longer supported but never had the time it seemed. The advent of AI coding assistance in Xcode allowed me to do a complete makeover in a fraction of the time. It has some features that I haven't seen in any other geocaching apps, most notably the SONAR ranging simulation that I had in the first app. It is extremely helpful when chasing down geocaches in the wood where the footing is tricky. The auto ranging allows you to "home in" without having to focus on the compass display. The app parses standard .GPX files known as "pocket queries" from the geocaching website and displays them in easy to use lists and map views for selection and targeting. The navigation display, patterned after the directional gyro display in light aircraft, show a simultaneous view of your current heading and bearing to the selected cache target while displaying the distance to the target. Turn on the SONAR feature and the app provides a simulated SONAR ping and echo sound effect that simulates the SONAR pings and echoes you've heard on all those submarine movies. That's really handy when riding a bike or driving a car toward a cache because you get an audio indication of target proximity.

This altimeter delivers the altitude of your current position either from the device (GPS) or from the ASTER digital elevation model (with a horizontal accuracy of 30m). Depending on your current position and your device one of the two methods is more correct. Using GPS on the device is known for a large error in the altitude for difficult receiver conditions it's not available for network based positioning at all.
