Vocal Lab helps you train to sing on key. It listens while you sing and displays the pitch of your voice on a graph, in real time. All you have to do is watch the graph while you sing and try to stay near the lines. With a little practice, you can greatly improve your intonation. Vocal Lab can help you identify problem areas in your singing, and can also help improve your intonation on various instruments - woodwinds, brass, and strings. GETTING STARTED Inspect the Volume Indicator Talk or play something while watching the volume indicator. Several lighted blue bars (4-7) should appear then vanish again. If no bars appear, too few bars, or the red bar appears often, please read the section entitled, 'Selecting the Microphone'.  SELECTING THE MICROPHONE Laidman & Katsura tuning programs work by 'listening' through your Microphone. Because your Mac may support more than one sound input device (Microphone, Line Input, etc.) you may need to choose one. From the Tuner Microphone Menu, select "Configure..." and then choose a device for sound input; generally this will be 'Internal microphone'. You may also be able to use 'Line In' for direct instrument connections, such as a guitar or keyboard. Verify that the Input level indicator is active. As you talk (or play) the bars should light up and vanish again. Adjust the Input volume slider so that most of the bars light up when you talk the loudest. (You don't want all the bars to light up, just most of them, then you know you have the Input level set correctly.) BEST RESULTS Once you're certain the Microphone is working, here is how you can obtain best results...  Microphone placement Place the microphone near you, or position yourself near the microphone. The microphone should generally be located as near to the sound source as possible. However, singing too close too a microphone may create "popping" effects. A good starting point is about 2 feet distance. A little experimentation may improve results. One Note Only! The pitch detection algorithm can only detect one note at a time! It cannot distinguish individual notes among chords. When using an instrument capable of producing more than one note, avoid notes which continue to sound after a new note is introduced. For example, avoid open strings on a guitar. Also avoid reverb and echo effects.  FEATURES Graph The main feature of Vocal Lab is the graphing area. As you sing or play, your pitch is plotted on the graph in real time. The trace advances only when the pitch of a note is identified, so it is important that you set up for 'best results'. The Vocal Lab graph looks something like a polygraph or seismograph. The horizontal lines across the graph are placed at the 12 chromatic tones. The octave is ignored; all notes wrap around to the 12 notes of the display. The objective is to stay as near to these lines as possible, while you sing or play. The further you stray from the lines, the more out of tune you are. This plot shows in great detail the pitch history and helps isolate problem areas in your intonation. For example, you may tend to start flat and glide up to the note, or you may drift flat as you hold a note. Nobody can sing "perfectly" in tune such that they always stay on the lines, but, that is the objective. Some people may have a hard time accepting that they are really that much out of tune, but the graph does not lie! Reference Tone Buttons Click these buttons to generate an audible reference tone, if desired. The reference tones are mathematically generated to provide a precise frequency reference. The timbre of the reference tones may not be 'pleasing' depending on speaker quality. If you press the shift key or the control key when you click these buttons, it generates an octave higher or lower reference tone.

このアプリのコンセプトは「英語脳」を作るための「脳トレジム」アプリです。「英語脳」の元となる、それぞれ別の「筋肉」を鍛える６つのトレーニングマシーンで日頃トレーニングして、「英語脳」の「神経回路」を作ってください。 日本トップクラスの英語講師であるニック・ウィリアムソンが、最短で「英語脳」を作りあげる画期的なメソッドを作りました。細かい文法を考えずに、文法的に正しい、尚且つ自然な英語が話せるようになりたい人にとってはこのメソッドが1番です。教室に通えない人のために、教室で行なっているドリルや練習をアプリ化しました。アプリ内には、ニック先生による分かりやすくてためになるレッスン動画がたくさんあります。そちらを観て、その後、６つのトレーニングマシーンで、どんどん発信する練習を重ねていきます。 英語が話せるようになるためには、英語をどんどん発信することが欠かせない要素の一つです。ネイティブが言った文をリピーティングするだけでも、少しは効果がありますが、自分で文を組み立てられるようになりたいなら、自分で文を組み立てる練習も必要になります。 「ニック式英会話ジム」では自分がパーツを組み合わせて作った文、テンプレートに沿って、英語の思考回路に沿って自分が作った文を、ネイティブが読んでくれるので、それをリピーティングすることができます。発音の練習と文章作りの練習を同時にできます。英語の思考回路を脳に焼き付けることができて、ネイティブのような自然な英語が話せるようになります。 それでは、６つのトレーニングマシーンを紹介します： 1. 「置き換え」 このマシンが一番シンプルですが、「英語脳」育成にはとっても効果的です。 たとえば「How old are you?」の「old」を別の単語に置き換えて「How hungry are you?（どれくらいお腹空いているの？）」「How sick are you?（どれくらい具合悪いの？）」「How confident are you?（自信のほどは？）」などと、新しい表現を作っていきます。１つの表現を覚えて終わらせずに、簡単な単語を置き換えていくことで言えることが数十倍の量になります。言語を学ぶ上で、この「置き換え頭」は大変役立つスキルです。日本語に合わせて表現を作ろうとせずに、このように英語の表現に合わせて応用する頭になるからです。このマシンはそのスキルを養うトレーニングマシンです。「形容詞」を置き換えたり、「名詞」を置き換えたり、「動詞」を置き換えたりすることができます。 2. 「A＋B」 ２つのパーツ、２つの決まっているフレーズを「A＋B」のように組み合わせます。 たとえば「I was going to（するつもりだった）」という塊と「change jobs（転職する）」という塊を組み合わせて「I was going to change jobs.（転職するつもりだった）」と文を作っていきます。又、「一般」「仕事」「遊び」「恋愛」「家事」など、様々なカテゴリーが選択できます。動詞の原形が続く表現、動詞のing形が続く表現、動詞の過去分詞が続く表現などと、様々な表現がありますが、アプリがすべて正しい形に変換してくれるので、間違った文を作ることは不可能です。自分が作った文をネイティブが読んでくれるので、それをリピーティングします。脳と口を同時に慣らすことできます。このマシーンだけで約6万通りの組み合わせがあります。「学習」モードと「テスト」モードがあります。 3. 「3 STEP」 ネイティブと同じ思考回路で短文を作りましょう。 特に時制の使い分けに関しては、日本語と英語は全く違います。日本語に惑わされないように、３ステップのテンプレートに沿って考える「英語の思考回路」を身につけましょう。日本語に囚われているからこそ、苦労もしますし、不自然な英語になります。本当の英語はもっともっと簡単です。日本語をヒントにせずに、内容で判断しながら３つのステップに沿って文を作ります。日本語英語よりも楽に、ネイティブ感覚の英語になります。そして、日本語から訳さずに、最初から英語で考えられるようになります。自分が作った文をネイティブが読んでくれるので、それをリピーティングしましょう。このマシンには2万ほどの文例が登録されています。「フラッシュカード」「学習」「テスト」と３つのモードがあります。 4. 「Q」 瞬時に質問ができるスキルを身につけましょう。 質問することは、会話の大切な１部です。しかし、質問がしたくても「何と言えばいいんだろう？」と考えているうちに会話がどんどん進んでしまって、聞きそびれることが多いものですよね。聞きたい質問をすぐにその場で言える必要があります。すぐに言えるようになるためには、質問をシンプルに意識しましょう。たとえば「did you」「is he going to」「do you want to」などを「塊」として覚えて、その「塊」を「Where … go?」「What time … get up?」などの間に入れ替えて、シンプルに質問を組み合わせます。組み合わせた質問をネイティブが読んでくれるので、それをリピーティングしましょう。 5. 「A」 英語でされた質問に対して、反射的に英語で返せる「反射神経」を作りましょう。 ほとんどの人は、英語で質問をされた時に、日本語に訳して理解して、そのあと、「動詞のチョイスは何？」「時制はどうする？」「活用はどうなる？」「前置詞は必要？」などといろんなことを考えながら、イチから答えを作ろうとします。それでは、難しい上に、時間がかかりすぎて会話に付いていけないですね。実は、１度日本語にせずに、文法を考えずに、正しい英語で反射的に答えられるテクニックがあります。このマシンでは、反射的に英語を英語で返す「反射神経」を作っていきます。アプリがどんどん質問をしてくるので、それを反射的に返していきます。「時制」を個別に練習することもできますし、「ランダム」モードでは「時制」をごちゃ混ぜにして練習することもできます。「ランダム」モードでは、アプリと本当に会話している感覚になるので、本当の会話にかなり備えられます。 6. 「音読」 発音をネイティブに近づけることでリスニングができるようになりましょう。 聞き取りができるようになるためには、自分の発音をネイティブに近づけることが必要です。発音の解説動画でコツを掴み、「会話例」を通して、聞き取りの練習や発音の練習をいろいろな角度からやっていきます。各会話例は７ステップで練習を進めていきます。特に「タッチ＆リリース」機能がおすすめです。長い文をリピーティングするのは大変ですが、短く始まって、少しずつ繰り返す範囲を伸ばしていくと、長い文でもできるようになります。「タッチ＆リリース」では画面に触れて音声が始まり、画面から指を離すと音声が止まります。つまり、リピーティングする範囲を自分で決められます。「A役」「B役」を選んで、アプリと一緒に「会話例」を音読する練習もします。録音して、自分の発音を確認することもできます。更に、会話例で使われている「文法」と「時制」を「色分け表示」で見ることもできて、とても分かりやすくなっています。会話例は１３０あり、それを「文法別」「シチュエーション別」で検索も可能です。

Also the peak position or direction inside the sound wave has no impact of human perception for the sound. You can even hear 0.2Hz sound of the peak is sharp enough and the frequency (self repetitiveness) of the signal is not actually meaningful for our ears. In nature there are no perfectly repeated waves and the sound has more free wave nature so what is important fo our sound recognition abilities is the peaks sharpness and the number and amplitude of those peaks :) Frequency domain and FFT for music can’t be more wrong and misleading. So work in time domain and handle those peaks to move the science and music ahead! The app can be used for physics, music or sound, education or what ever. With most dictionaries you need to know the root word before you can find the word you're looking for. Which is great if you've been studying for 10 years already. But one of the most frustrating things when you are a beginner is that you don't know enough grammar to work out what the root word is. So you can't look it up. Japanese Dictionary with Grammar has a built in reversing grammar engine. It takes care of all that for you. It understands Japanese grammar rules so you only need to enter the word as it is - and the dictionary works out the root word for you and then looks it up. Fast. For example: Search for たべられる (taberareru) in most dictionaries and you won't find anything. Search for it using AI Japanese Dictionary and it will tell you that this is the "Able to Do" form of たべる (taberu), "(v1,vt) to eat". Go further and search for たべられない (taberarenai) and find it is the "Regular Negative of the Able to Do" form of たべる (taberu). Or even further and search for たべられなかった (taberarenakatta) and find this is the "Past tense of the Regular Negative of the Able to Do form" of たべる (taberu). The grammar smarts also understands adjectives, so it knows that おいしくなかった (oishikunakatta) is the past tense of the negative of おいしい (oishii), (adj) delicious. Beginners often mis-hear or mis-remember words. So this dictionary also has "Deep Search" to take care of that for you. It looks for other similar spellings for your search and lists them as alternate suggestions. Search for きぷ (kipu) by mistake and Deep Search will also find きっぷ (kippu), and ぎふ (gifu), and several other words which might be the one you're actually looking for. Of course you can search for romaji, hiragana, katakana, English, kanji... It's also smart enough to look for katakana if you put in hiragana by mistake (or the other way around). So even though you searched for べっど (beddo) it finds ベッド (beddo), (n) bed. If you remember one or two kanji from a word, but not the whole thing, then just put "?" for the ones you don't know and the dictionary will find all the possible words that match. The dictionary includes over 200,000 words from the famous Monash University EDICT dictionary, and it doesn't store all the alternatives, it works them out on the fly, so the whole app is smaller and no internet access is required. Finally. Using a Japanese dictionary just got a whole lot less frustrating.

You can then refine your structure in one click using UFF force field optimization. When building a structure, DrawMol can guess for you the type of bonds (single, double, triple or aromatic bonds) or you can force it by clicking on a bond. Moreover, hydrogen atoms can be added automatically - Save your structure in xyz format or build a gaussian or gamess input file directly. For Gamess, if the program is installed locally, you can even launch the job from DrawMol (in the background) and follow the progression of the job. - Paste directly a structure into the Cartesian Editor of DrawMol.
